ASTRONOMY IN THE PARK SET FOR OCT. 1

Star Cluster in Hercules and Dumbbell Nebula will be visible during the next Astronomy In The Park on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Oak Grove Regional Park. Viewing starts at 6:45 p.m., $6 cash parking. FLYER

TRUNK O' TREAT AT MICKE GROVE ON OCT. 14

Bring the kids for a fun trick-or-treating event, Trunk O' Treat, on Fri., Oct. 14 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Micke Grove Regional Park. Located at the Micke Grove Zoo parking lot, the free event will feature Zoo activities plus decorated cars, kids crafts and games, pumpkin decorating, food trucks and lots of candy! Participating cars welcomed, candy donations needed. $5 parking fee. FLYER

NATURE CENTER OPEN SATURDAYS THROUGH OCT.

Oak Grove Regional Park's Nature Center will be open every Saturday through Oct. 29 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Docents will be available to conduct tours of center exhibits, the Native American Village and the Native Plant Garden. TEMPORARY EXHIBIT CLOSURES AT MICKE GROVE ZOO

The highly pathogenic Avian Influenza is now present in northern California, putting Micke Grove Zoo birds at risk. Out of an abundance of caution, the walk-through aviary will be closed to foot traffic until further notice. Birds can still be viewed outside the exhibit. Additionally, animals will be off exhibit at Lemur Island through the end of July as the zoo's water systems are updated. 

HYACINTH AT MOSSDALE, DOS REIS

With warmer weather comes hyacinth growth, so guests launching at Mossdale Crossing and Dos Reis regional parks are advised to check the ramps prior to boat or recreation launching.

STOVES, GRILLS & CAMPFIRES PROHIBITED AT STILLMAN

Due to high fire concerns, stoves, campfires and grills are prohibited at Stillman Magee Regional Park until further notice. 

WATERPLAY FEATURE OPEN DAILY

The waterplay feature located near Micke Grove's Camanche Shelter is open daily 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. As always, it is free for use (parking $5 weekdays, $6 weekends and most holidays).
