Volunteer Docent Training

Do you have a passion for local wildlife, native plants, history or conservation? The Oak Grove Docent Council invites you to share that passion by becoming a Volunteer Docent at the Nature Center at Shumway Oak Grove Regional Park.

Volunteer Docent Training will be held October 2 and 3 at the Nature Center, offering an opportunity to learn more about the park while helping educate and inspire children and adults in our community. During the two-day training, participants will learn about local history, native plants and wildlife, interpretation techniques, visitor engagement, environmental education, safety and site orientation.

No prior experience is required and all adults are welcome. Docents can lead school tours, staff the Nature Center, care for gardens and trails, support programs and events or create interpretive content. Volunteers can choose opportunities that match their interests while gaining new skills and meeting others who share their love of the Central Valley. To register or learn more, email the Oak Grove Docent Council or call (209) 953-8814.
